Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take, and do I wait at the shop?

About 15 seconds from the photo to the first toy picture, and about 3 minutes for the 3D model once you have chosen a picture. Nobody waits for the print: it runs after your visit, often with several toys on one plate. You follow the progress from the link on your phone, and the shop tells you the pickup day.

What does it cost, and when do I pay?

The price is shown before you upload the photo, and you pay at the shop, not online. There is nothing to pay until you have chosen a toy picture you like.

How big is the toy, and what is it made of?

The toy is about 30 mm (3 cm) across its shorter side: a tall figure is 30 mm wide, a long one 30 mm high, and no toy is taller than 60 mm. It is 3D-printed in PLA, a plant-based plastic, in three colours from the shop’s palette. It is small: a keepsake for a desk, a shelf or a bag, and not for children under 3.

What if I don’t like the toy picture?

Tap “try again” for a new picture, or tell us what should change, for example “make the jacket black”, and the next picture is an edit of the one you chose. You can have up to three pictures for one drawing.

Can the toy be a keychain?

Yes. When you approve the picture, choose “keychain” and we add a small loop on the back of the toy for a key ring. You see a picture of the loop before the 3D model is made.

What happens to the photo of the drawing?

We use the photo of the drawing to make a toy picture and a 3D model with AI services. We keep a copy of the files for 30 days after the handover (backups up to 90 days). We send no marketing without your permission.

Which drawings work best?

One character or object per drawing, with bold lines on plain paper, works best. Only a photo is needed, so you keep the original drawing.

Can MDR come to my shop, class or event?

Yes. MDR is built for places where people draw and make things: shops, art classes and studios, schools, parties and team events. Ask for the MDR team at the shop.

MDR is a manufacturing partner for shops, classes and events where people make things. We bring the printer, the app and the pipeline from drawing to toy; you bring the artists and a corner of your counter. Your customers leave with a memory, and come back to collect it.

About MDR

MDR, in one paragraph

MDR (Manufacturing Dreams) is a Singapore service that turns anyone’s drawing into a small 3D-printed toy. Customers photograph the drawing at a partner shop; an AI model reimagines it as a toy picture in about 15 seconds; the customer approves a picture, a 3D model is built in about 3 minutes, and the toy is printed in three colours at about 30 mm across its shorter side. The toy is collected at the shop on a later visit. Payment is at the shop, and the photo is kept for 30 days after the handover.
